No Tech for Apartheid, the organizer of Tuesday's Google office protest, said in a statement late Monday that Google had laid off 20 employees in addition to the 30 employees laid off last week.

No Tech for Apartheid claimed that some of the laid-off employees were "unattended bystanders" during the Google office sit-ins in New York and Sunnyvale, Calif., last Tuesday and were not actively involved in workplace activism. The statement condemned the mass dismissal as an "aggressive and desperate act of retaliation" by the tech giant.

A Google spokesman declined to specify the number of people fired as a result of the protests, but confirmed in a statement to the media on Tuesday morning that more employees had been laid off.

Google has investigated the "physical damage in our building on April 16," the spokesman said. A Google spokesman added: "our investigation into these incidents is now over and we have terminated the employment of other employees found to be directly involved in destructive activities."

At the same time, protest organizers said some of the laid-off employees did not cause any disruption to Google's office.

"now, the company is lashing out at any workers near the protests, including those who did not take part in the protests at all."

The workers' group also vowed to continue its workplace activities at Google, saying it wanted to send a message to executives: "We will not stop fighting, we will not back down."
